How We Can Help

The Eve Brook Scholarship Fund runs five schemes, which are open to any Birmingham care-leaver who wants to study at university.

Awards and Bursaries

The awards are :

  • Scholarships: to cover all or part of a young person’s fees and / or living expenses on college or university courses;
  • Bursaries: to cover ongoing expenses at college, such as books and travel expenses (usually in the range of £300 to £500) and help with childcare;
  • A Postgraduate Bursary of £3000 to students on Masters programmes. This scheme has been developed in association with Birmingham Children’s Trust After Care Service;
  • One off grants: for particular expenses, such as musical instruments, books, sporting equipment, artists’ materials and so on; and
  • Grants for short courses, placements and trips that contribute to a university or college course.

Applicants must be or have been in the care of Birmingham Children's Services and you will need a sponsor to apply. This is usually an aftercare worker, but can also be another social worker, teacher, foster parent or another young person.

Applications are considered by the Trustees of the Fund who meet five times a year. Before awarding large grants (£1,000 and above) members of the Trust may want to meet applicants.
